Do You Know Him?
This is the most important question of your life. Do you know Him? Are you saved? It is not a question of how good you are or if you are a church member. But, are you saved?
First, you must realize you are a sinner. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
Because you are a sinner, you will die. "For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).
God loved you so much that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to bear your sin and die in your place. "...he hath made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us...that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Jesus had to shed His blood and die because "...without shedding of blood is no remission for sin." (Hebrews 9:22).
Although we may not understand completely, God has said my sins and yours were laid upon Jesus and He died in our place. He was our substitute. Our sin has separated us from God, and it took the death of Jesus to bridge the gap.
In Acts 17:30, "God commandeth all men ...to repent. This means simply to change one's mind and agree with God that you are a sinner and agree with what Christ did on the Cross for you.
The Phillippian jailer asked Paul and Silas what he must do to be saved in Acts 16:30 and they said "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved..."
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13).
Realizing that you are a sinner wherever you are right now, repent, lift your heart to God and simply pray:
- God. I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the Cross. I believe His shed blood, death, burial and resurrection were for me.
- I receive Him as my Savior.
- I thank You for forgiveness of my sins, the gift of salvation and everlasting life through Your merciful grace. AMEN.
God's Simple Plan of Salvation: You and I are sinners. Unless we believe in Jesus Who died in our place, we will spend eternity in Hell. If we believe in Him as our crucified, buried and risen Savior, we receive forgiveness for all our sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith.
But, we must take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and we will be saved. No church, no lodge, and no good works can save us. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
God's power will save us, keep us saved, and enable us to live a victorious Christian life. Situations change, feelings change, but God's promises will never change.
